Together for a Happy Beginning
Lizzy is passionate to see each mother and baby receive the same excellent quality care she received while delivering her three babies at Queen Geraldine hospital. She brings with her 17 years of living and working in Albania, 8 of which she was active on the foundation board. She continues to enjoy the challenge of translating the concept of a hospital foundation in the west into the unique context of the Albanian medical system.
Micah has been involved supporting non-profit work in Albania for years and moved here two years ago with his family. He brings over 20 years of proven success in leadership, management, customer relationships and development, fundraising, sales, training, marketing, operations, purchasing, and supply chain.
He has chosen to join the Foundation board out of a passion to see each and every mother and baby receive the best care possible as part of care for the whole family.
Doctor Maksim brings to the board over 37 years of experience as an obstetrician and gynaecologist, as well as an administrator of the public maternity hospital. He has authored several publications and manuals for health professionals and works in various leadership roles in Tirana as well as other regions of Albania. Dr. Maksim has a passion for improving the conditions of hospitals in Albania and he brings connections and ideas for practical ways the Mother and Child Hospital Foundation can directly support the efforts of Albanian medical professionals.
Betsy is a founding member of the foundation. She has wielded her extensive experience in fundraising for non-profits, as well as her energy and skills in networking to fuel our growth in the first years. After a time of serving in Albania alongside her husband Peter, she is now our one board member based abroad who helps bring us another perspective and connects us to opportunities to partner with those who love Albania in the U.S.
Since 2013, Elisabeta has served as the Deputy Executive Director of the Water Supply and Sewerage Association of Albania (SHUKALB), and has been responsible for the expansion of their outreach programs as well as leading the effort in the development and growth of their grants. She has extensive experience managing non-profits at an executive level.
Anne is a German midwife who has enjoyed working with the Mother and Child Hospital Foundation and MamiCare since 2019. She has been a huge asset to the daily operations of the foundation and has been involved in teaching birth classes in public and private hospitals as well as prenatal classes. She uses her clinical skills to help moms at the state hospital with breastfeeding and does regular home visits. She is gifted at supporting women in this special stage of life.
A strong advocate for the legal rights of children and families, Nelda has worked with international organizations including World Vision, Save the Children, and the Open Society. She has defended cases involving civil, administrative, and family rights, as well as cases involving bank, and market justice.
Eneida has been on staff with the Foundation and MamiCare since 2019. Eneida’s background is in psychology, and she is gifted in administration and marketing. Eni has helped increase awareness about the work of the foundation in the community.
Bethany came to our work just this year and has already become integral to the work of the Foundation in both health and outreach. Her concern to see healthier babies drew her towards studying breastfeeding in depth. She shares her knowledge with moms at the hospital and in the community with one-on-one consults and through educational material she helps to create.
Kejsi has recently been promoted into the position of Finance Officer upon completing her Master’s studies in Accounting. Her strong work ethic and attention to detail called commended her to her new responsibilities after a year of serving as a sales associate in our store.
